Welcome to Inanna’s Game - Cycle 8!!

This is Inanna’s Game. A set of story ingredients, the challenge to create a story. Creative, invigorating, and fun! The stories you create remain yours.

If you missed the Live IG Reveal, you can watch its trimmed form here for the next 5 days. After that, the video will be removed. Remember this is not spiffed and is provided as a courtesy for those that were unable to join.

Each story remains the copyrighted material of the author posting the story.

Each story must contain at least one of the snippets of prose in the section. It is not necessary to use the component verbatim. Instead, the overall impact of it and its shape and presentation should be utilized.

Snippet 1 - It was horribly hot outside, but the chore would not wait. Sweat dripped down her face, leaving salt trails that itched. The air was so humid, they would not even start to dry. Now she regretted not having more water.

Snippet 2 - The counter was cleared with the sweep of someone's arm. Several items bounced across the room, others hit the ground and shattered, leaving a minefield for someone's bare feet later in the day.

Snippet 3 - The smell of warm food filled their senses, and the telling sound of hunger growled up from their stomachs. It had been too long, not that they had a choice.

The places or scenes defined in this section also need to be incorporated into the story. Once again, a minimum of one must be woven into your tale. It is not required to use the component verbatim, but nothing that contravenes what is listed here should be put into your work.

Scenario 1 - Open mountain meadow, tall grass with wildflowers dotted the field with bright colors. Storm clouds building over the mountains and the wind picking up to gale levels, the ground begins to rumble under their feet. Over the meadow, a shadow grew and darkened, chills running up and down exposed skin.

Scenario 2 - It was a broad open room with many tables, seats, and benches. Warmth filled it physically, but there was a chill between the groups clustered inside. She could feel the tension buzzing on her skin. The only calming aspect was the familiar aromas that wafted through the air from the opened windows.

Scenario 3 - It was dark. Fire exploded all around with the sharp impact of blows on the ears. Smoke kept her from seeing, while the constant shaking of impact kept her from concentrating enough to use her power.

The characters described in the section are the third requirement for the story. You may pick one or more of them, but each character included in your tale from this list must act believably, given their background, stated appearance, or limitations.

Character 1 - Winged predator, trying to hide his night-blindness from the rest of them. There was no reason for its loss, so he decided to rely on his companions' path and comments. Snapping and growling at everyone, he was desperately ashamed. He was starting to withdraw from more of the joint activities, hiding his weakness behind an arrogant mask.

Character 2 - Sentient town, with cheery streets straight out of Norman Rockwell or Disney. Everything clean, perfect, but carrying a mask of perfection. The darker aspects of the town were unacknowledged, and strange accidents happened to those that got to curious.

Character 3 - It was an unusual day of dodging the giants, even if he was tall for his species. There was so much to do, and little time to do it while carrying something 5 times his weight back to the home, he knew he was hardworking, but never felt worthy. Perhaps it stemmed from his weakness for fruit, instead of the normal diet the rest of them followed

Character 4 - They were nondescript, able to blend in anywhere. Observant, able to hear and see things others could not. Perfect for their occupation, carrying the potential for being dangerous. The confidence and decisiveness were well masked.
